We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Live in Concert

18 February 2019

In 2019, City of London Sinfonia brought Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury’s beloved children’s story We’re Going on a Bear Hunt to life, accompanying a live screening of the film adaptation with a performance of Stuart Hancock’s delightful score under the composer’s baton.

Artists

Stuart Hancock composer, arranger, and conductor

Hazel Gould librettist

Claire Henry presenter and animateur

Claire has come to watch her favourite film, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt – but she can’t find her seat! She finds herself sitting on the conductor’s podium in front of an orchestra. What’s that? And what do they have to do with the Bear Hunt film?

Ahead of the film screening, City of London Sinfonia provided an interactive introduction to the pictures painted by each section of the orchestra in Stuart Hancock’s imaginative score: the ‘swishy swashy’ grass in the wind section, the ‘squelchy mud’ in the brass section, and, in the percussion, the big bear’s footsteps!

Throughout, Claire led the audience in joyous singalongs of the closing credits song, ‘Me and You’ by George Ezra.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt is a Lupus Films production in association with Bear Hunt Films and Walker Productions for Channel 4, Universal Pictures, and Herrick Entertainment with the support of Creative Europe – MEDIA programme of the European Union. We’re Going on a Bear Hunt – Live in Concert was produced in association with City of London Sinfonia and Intermusica.
